Volunteering

The Council Bluffs Public Library relies on the generous support of volunteers in its efforts to best serve the community.

Located at the front of the library, the volunteer-run Friends of the Library Book Store helps generate funds to acquire important materials beyond the library budget.

Volunteers also assist in the following areas:

  • Book shelving
  • Book delivery to homebound patrons
  • Computer assistance
  • Donation delivery
  • Events & programs assistance
  • Mailings (folding, labeling, and sorting letters)
  • Reference services assistance
  • Shelf reading (checking the order of shelved books)
  • Support Services assistance (processing new library materials)

For additional information on volunteering opportunities at the library, call 712-323-7553 (ext. 128), email friends@cbpl.lib.ia.us, or complete a Volunteer Application form available at the Circulation Desk. Teens can learn more about volunteering here.
