FOOD FOR FINES

We are proud to be partnering with New Visions Homeless Services in providing library patrons with a new opportunity to take care of their library fines: Food for Fine Vouchers!

About Food for Fines

From April 1st to June 30th, simply bring a donation of items from New Visions’ Wish List (see list of items below) to MOHMs Place and in exchange, they will issue Food for Fines Vouchers that can be used to pay your library fine, up to $50.00 on each account!  For every item donated you will receive $1.00 worth of fine forgiveness.

About New Visions Homeless Services and MOHM’s Place

MOHM’s Place has been feeding the hungry in Council Bluffs for over 20 years!  It began with sack lunches consisting of 2 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, a bag of potato chips, a piece of fruit, and a juice box, which were served out of the van.  Now, MOHMs Place has a permanent meal site located at the New Vision’s Complex, where they serve 6,000 meals a month to hungry men, women, and children in our community!

The New Vision Complex is located at 1435 N. 15th Street, Council Bluffs, IA 51501.  Along with the meal site, New Visions operates an emergency men’s shelter there that can sleep up to 100 people nightly.  There are also 26 units of Transitional Housing, designed for the sole purpose of helping people get back on their feet and be productive citizens.
