We have so much to offer this summer and we hope you’re as excited as we are! We have fun scheduled for the school-age crowd every Wednesday morning. From slime to live music and theater, there’s something for everyone! For the 5 & under kiddos, we have story times followed by music and dance every Tuesday and Thursday morning, as well as some extra-special fun with bubbles and farm animals! To round things out, we’ve added some evening programs for the whole family this year that we hope will be of special interest to our working families. And finally, we’re thrilled to once again be a stop on Dan Wardell’s Reading Road Trip.
Remember though, there’s a lot to do here at the library every hour we’re open, not just during program times. Stop by the Youth Room and enjoy our interactive play area for children under 8–this summer we’ll feature an airport and a farmer’s market. Our staff works hard to design this area for F-U-N. We highly encourage imaginative play at the library because it’s so important for child development, but this area is also designed to incorporate literacy skills (math, matching, pattern recognition, reading, etc.).
In addition to our designated play space, we also offer the opportunity to play blocks or puzzles, engineer a cabin from Lincoln Logs, play with our dollhouse family, toddle around our busy cubes, and so much more!
And while you’re here taking part in all of our fabulous activities, remember that statistics suggest that children who do not read over the summer experience a loss of up to 2 months worth of reading achievement. Check out books from our wonderful collection and participate in the Summer Reading Club to fight off the “summer slide,” and because books broaden horizons!
