Library Legal Clinic

Library Legal Clinic

Sep 02, 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Meeting Room D

An attorney from Iowa Legal Aid will be available at the library to provide in-person legal assistance. The Clinic can help with civil (non-criminal) legal problems. This may include family law issues, landlord and tenant disputes, debtor’s rights, electronic filing questions or pro se form review.

Pre-register for the Legal Clinic by completing a self-referral form prior to August 28, 2020. This form is available at the Reference Desk. If you are not able to register ahead of time, you can walk in on the day of the clinic. Please understand there is no guarantee you will be seen. Individuals with appointments will be seen first and walk-ins will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis. No new applications will be taken after 4:30 PM.

** Please Note:
– To participate in the Clinic, you must be eligible for Iowa Legal Aid’s services. You will go through a screening process before you speak with an attorney.
– You cannot receive assistance through the Clinic if you are already represented by another attorney.

The Library Legal Clinic is the result of a partnership between Iowa Legal Aid and the Council Bluffs Public Library and is scheduled for the first Wednesday each month from 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM.
