Longtime Glenwood resident, 175-year-old John Y. Stone, will visit the library attired in his Civil War uniform – having enlisted in 1861 and mustering out as a first lieutenant in 1865. John will regale audience members with some exciting “war stories” about serving under General Grant at Shiloh and Vicksburg and under General Sherman in Atlanta and on the way to Savannah.

Since retiring in 2012, he has continued to pursue his interest in history, including participation in a horse drawn artillery unit, 19th century cavalry school and reenactments of several Civil War and Indian Wars era battles.
