THE VOTE IS THE EMBLEM OF OUR EQUALITY: VICTORIANS AND THE FIGHT FOR WOMEN’S RIGHTS
This year, Americans will mark the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment giving women the right to vote. In this program, historian Kathy Wilson investigates why women had to fight for decades to get the right to vote, why black and minority women were excluded from the national suffrage movement, and why we still struggle with women’s rights today.
A professional historian and educator, Kathy Wilson believes learning about the past can be fun as well as interesting. To prove that point, she draws on more than 20 years of experience to entertain and educate her audience.
This program is free and open to the public and was made possible with help from the Council Bluffs Public Library Foundation.
