Supporting Lifelong Learning & Creativity

Our Library of Things is a catalog of items available for you to checkout! Your library card gives you access to all of these awesome items, from board games and kits to cake pans! The goal is to give the community access to items that support creativity without the burden of having to purchase them. For more information about the Library of Things, contact us.

Free admission to local area attractions, such as Durham Museum, Fontenelle Forest, Lauritzen Gardens, Omaha Children’s Museum, Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium, and Pottawattamie Conservation parks, can be obtained with a library card.  Certain restrictions may apply.

The Prairie Rose Seed Library started as a community space for sharing open-pollinated seeds as well as gaining knowledge and information around seed saving and other gardening practices. Seeds are available to check out with a valid library card. A limit of 15 seed packets may be checked out on a card per season.

Did you know the library has a collection of board games, all available for you to check out and take home? Games can be checked out at the Circulation Desk by the front entrance with a valid library card.

Board Game Policies

No more than two game can be borrowed at a time, and you must be 11+ years old to check out a game. Board games cannot be renewed. If playing in the library, please be quiet and respectful of others using the library. Game pieces are sorted into labeled bags – when finished, return them to the correct bags. Patrons returning an incomplete game may be charged for the cost of the entire game.

Check out a cake pan with your Council Bluffs Public Library card! Cake pans are located on the second floor of the library by the cook books.

Cake Pan Policies

A damaged item fee will be charged for a cake pan returned dirty. Please return your cake pans to the Circulation Desk, please do not put them in the book drop.

Handling Instructions

Before and after usage, wash the cake pan in warm, soapy water and dry it thoroughly. Do not machine wash.

Did you know the Council Bluffs Library has a collection of framed art to be checked out? The collection can be found on the first floor near the elevator. Art prints check out for a period of 6 weeks.
