Discovery Pass Reservation System

The current online reservation system for Discovery Passes is ending on December 31st, 2024. We are working on implementing a new reservation system currently, but it will not be ready for use for a few weeks. Passes will not be available to reserve for dates past December 31 until our new system is in place. Water Fest: Our Community Reads 2024 Kick Off Event

Save the date: March 9, 2024, 11:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

Help us kick off Our Community Reads 2024: Water Connects Us All at Water Fest, our family-friendly, community celebration of all things water!

Here’s a quick peek at the activities we have planned:

  • Council Bluffs Parks & Rec is doing lifeguard recruiting for the upcoming season.
  • Council Bluffs Sewer Department is bringing the sewer camera truck and will be doing live demonstrations.
  • U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary will have information and demonstrations on water safety and on Plastic Island/Water pollution. 
  • Council Bluffs Fire Department is bringing their hovercraft. 
  • The YMCA will have information on water fitness and pool safety.
  • Golden Hills RC&D will have rain barrels to demonstrate.
  • Pheasants Forever is bringing information on native plants that use their roots to help filter water.
  • Fontenelle Forest will have information on how water affects our local area and habitat restoration.
  • Preserve Council Bluffs is sharing information on how the Missouri River has shaped the city of Council Bluffs and the Flood of 1952.
  • West Pott Soil & Water Conservation will have a soil scavenger hunt in an inflatable tunnel. 
  • Prairie Rose Seed Library will be hosting a seed swap and will have information on hydroponics benefits to gardening and drought resistant plants.
  • Pottawattamie County Public Health will provide a hand-washing activity. 
  • Council Bluffs Public Library will have a wave stick craft in the Youth Department, water diffusion art near Teen Central, and an interactive map showing the change in course of the Missouri River from 1870-present near the Reference Desk.
  • Back by popular demand: Live music by the Flatwater Drifters, 12:30-1:30 p.m.!
