Event Details
In this poetry workshop for teens, writers will explore the everyday moments that spark hope and turn them into vivid, sensory-driven poems. This welcoming class helps teens discover how even small details can carry powerful light.
An Omaha native, Shelly Nosbisch relished writing growing up, but negative feedback from her college lit mag shut her down for twenty years. Yet the craving to write never left her, so she began again in secret. At first, it was sneaky, as though someone was going to catch her at it, but soon she joined a generative writing group and then a critique group, and soon all her friends were writers. She pursued an MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults from Vermont College of Fine Arts, graduating in 2017. Shelly is living her best life when she’s teaching writing as well. She is a teaching artist with Nebraska Writers Collective, teaching spoken word poetry, micro fiction, and novel writing. A voracious reader, Shelly can often be found lurking in the stacks at the local library so she can afford her reading habit.
