Summer Reading 2025

June 1-July 31, 2025

The Summer Reading Challenge is available to readers of all ages from babies through adults. Registration opens June 1.

This year's program is designed to encourage readers to develop daily reading habits. Simply log any day you read or listen to a book for more than 15 minutes. There’s no need to track titles or exact times; focus on reading as many days as you can this summer!

As readers meet milestones along the way, they'll earn prizes!

  • Kids will earn a free book, a day-pass to a City pool, ice cream cone coupons from Christy Creme and Sugar Makery, and for their final prize, they can choose another of any previously earned prize. Kids 5 and under will be given the choice of any of the listed prizes for kids or an item of the caregiver's choice from our "Baby Grab Bag."
  • Teens will earn a day-pass to a City pool, ice cream cone coupons from Christy Creme and Sugar Makery, and for their final prize, they can choose another of any previously earned prize or a free book.
  • Adults will receive raffle tickets that can be entered for a chance to win a year-long membership at the Durham Museum, the Henry Doorly Zoo, Lauritzen Gardens, or Pottawattamie County Conservation. Membership type will be determined by the winner.

*NOTE: The ages 0-5 program asks readers to log books instead of days read. This will allow readers to count books toward both the Summer Reading Challenge and 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten.

You can register here or through the Beanstack Tracker app, available for free wherever you download apps.

Tracking for all challenges starts June 1.
