The Cochran Library Kiosk is currently being painted!

The Cochran Library Kiosk will be a part of the murals on FIRST AVE and is currently being painted by the wonderful artist Ilaamen Pelshaw.

Maybe you’ve heard the joke that your parents or grandparents had to walk uphill both ways to get to school. Well for students of Council Bluffs High School in the late 1800s, there may have been some truth to this. Built in 1870, Council Bluffs High School was the first high school in the city.

The countdown to the installation of the newest Library location, Cochran Library Kiosk, is on!  Books are being ordered for this opening collection and a lot of thought has gone into how to make this browsing collection, well, easy to browse!  Unlike the bookshelves you are used to rig

If you have been around Cochran Park recently, you may have noticed that new shelter has been put up right on the FIRST AVE trail at 22^nd Street.  This shelter will house a new Library Kiosk, where patrons will be able to check out library material 24/7!

We want to provide a space and a place to allow our patrons to GROW in their knowledge of gardening, seed saving, homegrown food and everything in-between! 

The Library is offering two fantastic book clubs this summer! Our clubs focus on gathering kids with their peer groups for fun experiences inspired by books and book characters.

Starting July 1, 2024, the Council Bluffs Public Library will no longer be able to provide Hoopla Digital to Open Access patrons.

This change only affects Open Access patrons.

Council Bluffs native Alfred Clemens started building his own sports car in 1956. Clemens worked on the project in his free time while operating his own business called Clemens Grinding Company.
